Periodic content updates ensure our titles provide solid learning outcomes to meet employer and industry expectations of the modern knowledge economy that drives workforce development.
History
Established in 2000 in Sydney, Australia, Software Publications is a market leader in VET publishing. We produce a comprehensive range of titles to support training delivery within two broad subject areas: Business Services and Financial Services.
Our learner workbooks and trainer/assessor resources enjoy a national and international reputation for quality. They are used by almost every government-funded training institute in Australia and a wide variety of private sector training organisations nationally. We also supply international public and private sector institutions in regions as diverse as Asia, the Middle East and Oceania.
The quality of our titles is demonstrated in their comprehensive coverage of all the learning elements in the individual units of competency they address. These units of competency are the building blocks of nationally accredited courses from Certificate I to Diploma in the Business Services Training Package. In the Financial Services Training Package our materials cover three key qualifications in Accounts Administration, Bookkeeping and Accounting.
We also offer a range of titles supporting Certificate I in the Information and Communications Technology Training Package. These entry level competency units are developed to provide a foundation in computer literacy and cover such topics as keyboard skills, using digital devices and safe, secure use of the Internet. Titles also include an introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
While Software Publications’s titles support many of the theory units within VET Business and Finance qualifications, we are best known for our software applications titles. These cover units of competency that address the Microsoft Office suite of applications in the Business Services Training Package and MYOB-related titles in the Financial Services Training Package. We also produce a range of short course MYOB titles designed to support upskilling and professional development courses outside the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Our software applications titles are fully mapped to assessment criteria as prescribed for the unit of competency in the relevant training package. The mapping covers Performance Criteria, and Required Skills and Knowledge.
Our learner workbooks are written in a clear, easy to understand style. This makes them well suited to learners whose first language may not be English. The applications titles make ample use of screen shots to provide a visual reference for trainee activities as they progress through the workbooks. The books are designed for step by step learning so learners make a logical progression in their skills acquisition.
Our trainer and assessor resources, supplied on CD, provide a range of materials corresponding to the substantive content of the competency unit in question. These may include solutions, assessment tools, marking guides, answers to questions and reference material.
