These exercises require children to arrange sentences in such a way that they make sense as a simple narrative. The lively cartoon illustrations help children make sense of the narrative and add fun to learning.
Teachers and parents will also find the exercises useful in helping pupils who are struggling with literal and inferential comprehension.
Sentences can be cut out of the book to allow children to move the sentences into the correct order.
The pictures are designed to encourage children's efforts by:
appealing to children’s sense of humour
providing clues as to the meaning of individual words
helping children imagine what the story might be
featuring scenes with which children from a range of cultural backgrounds will be able to identify.
